1100 communities of Ukraine have united in the project 'Side by Side': how it works

В Україні створено новий проект, який об'єднав більше тисячі громад для спільної роботи і підтримки.

Communities continue to support each other, build partnerships, and create opportunities for people in the difficult conditions of war. The focus is on cooperation, mutual aid, and real changes that communities from different regions implement together. We have also gathered stories about new partnerships, assistance to frontline cities, and initiatives for children living near the front line.

Public dialogue 'Side by Side: Creating the Future Together' within the National Forum on Resilience

During the public dialogue 'Side by Side: Creating the Future Together', three panel discussions took place. Participants summarized the results of the first waves of the project and outlined future cooperation directions. Within a year, 1,100 communities — over 75% of Ukraine, including those partially or fully occupied — joined the initiative. The event also showcased a photo exhibition of participating communities, demonstrating their resilience and mutual support.

New partnerships between communities

During the public dialogue 'Side by Side: Creating the Future Together', communities signed new memoranda within the fourth wave. Among them: Krasnosilsk community — with Pidberiztsi community, Balakliia — with Uzhhorod, and Kupiansk — with Boryspil community. A memorandum was also signed between the project's leadership and the President's Office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, expanding opportunities for joint initiatives.

Berdiansk provided assistance to frontline Kramatorsk

Kramatorsk is living under constant Russian shelling. Residents face interruptions in electricity and water supply. The partner Berdiansk community promptly responded to the request from the frontline city and formed assistance: food products and charging stations. This will allow people to stay connected and cover basic needs during outages.

Trips for children from frontline communities

Partner communities continue to organize vacations for children living under constant shelling. Schoolchildren from Stepnohirsk community spent a week in Slavske: hiking, participating in workshops, and visiting Lviv. Children from Verbkivska community also visited Lviv region, where an excursion to the Old Town was organized for them. In Brovary, children from Derhachi and Shostka arrived — they had a busy program visiting local attractions and interesting meetings. Such trips give children new acquaintances and emotions.

The 'Side by Side' project continues to unite communities and helps them find common solutions. Each story is about how support and cooperation work in practice and bring results to people.
