Current Warm Spell and Expected Cold Snap in Ukraine
Meteorologist Natalia Didenko has reported that a current period of warmer weather across Ukraine will soon give way to snowfall and a renewed drop in temperatures. On Friday, February 6, cyclonic activity is forecast for most regions, bringing snow, sleet, and rain. While significant precipitation is not expected in the east, the severe frosts have temporarily retreated. A moist, warmer air mass from the Atlantic is blanketing Ukraine with snow.
Winds on this day will remain strong, gusty, and southeasterly. In Kyiv, intermittent snow is expected on February 6. Air temperatures in the capital will range from -3 to -6 degrees Celsius both at night and during the day. According to the forecaster, overnight lows in the north and center of Ukraine will be -3 to -8°C, with possible frosts of -8 to -12°C in the east. In contrast, the west and south will see temperatures around zero. During the day, most regions are predicted to see readings from -2 to -7°C. The warmest conditions will be in the west and south, with temperatures ranging from -1 to +3°C, while in Zakarpattia and Crimea, the air will warm to +2 to +8°C.
Meteorologists' Forecasts and Impact on Various Sectors
Meteorologists predict a new wave of cold from February 9 to 11.
"The anticyclone is back, blast it! It should get easier after that," noted Natalia Didenko. The weather in Ukraine will continue to be changeable. These volatile winter conditions are typical for the region during this time of year.
The shifting weather in Ukraine may impact various sectors, including agriculture and transport. Deteriorating conditions, particularly snowfall and strong winds, could complicate the road situation, requiring increased attention and caution from drivers. Given the fluctuating temperatures, agricultural crops could be at risk if frosts persist for an extended period. Meteorologists continue to monitor developments to provide timely warnings to the public about potential hazardous weather phenomena.
