In October 2025, new border crossing rules between Ukraine and Poland came into force. Now, for various categories of travelers, starting from those who travel without a visa to holders of residence cards and travelers with a car or pets, updated requirements regarding documents and financial support apply.

Travel documents

For visa-free trips, it is necessary to have a biometric passport issued no more than 10 years ago, which is valid for at least 3 months. It is also necessary to have documents confirming the purpose of travel, such as hotel reservations or invitations, and health insurance. Holders of residence cards must have a biometric passport and appropriate documents.

Special conditions

For men aged 18 to 22 during martial law, it is necessary to have a passport and military registration document, including in electronic form. Children must have a biometric passport and a birth certificate to confirm family ties.

Traveling by car and with pets

For car travel, it is necessary to have a vehicle registration certificate, a 'Green Card' insurance policy (to be arranged no later than one day before departure), and a driver's license. For travel to the Schengen zone, Ukrainian rights are sufficient. Those traveling with pets must have a veterinary passport, a microchip for identification, and a health certificate for the animal according to EU standards.

Financial support

It is mandatory to confirm the availability of sufficient financial resources for entry. The minimum financial requirements for a stay in Poland are 300 zlotys for the first 4 days and 75 zlotys for each subsequent day. If a return ticket is absent, the amount may range from 200 to 2500 zlotys depending on the country of arrival. Proof of financial support can be cash, bank statements, checks, or credit cards. The current list of checkpoints is available on the interactive map of the State Border Guard Service.
