Issues with Submitting Gas Meter Readings

Naftogaz has announced that gas meter readings entered by consumers during payment through online billing systems never reach the Gas Distribution Network Operator (GDO) and therefore have no impact on usage calculations. As a Naftogaz representative explained, 'the meter readings required when paying via payment platforms are not transmitted to the Gas Distribution System Operator (GDO) and do not affect the calculation of consumed cubic meters of gas.' Consequently, the amount billed for gas supply is determined solely based on data provided by the GDO.

The GDO sends information about cubic meters consumed in the previous period to a centralized data platform. Naftogaz then retrieves this data to generate customer invoices. It is crucial to note that readings submitted through any other channel are not factored into the billing process.

Recommendations for Consumers

Customers of Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine LLC are advised to submit their meter readings directly to the operator using one of four methods:

  • via the KUB app by pressing the 'Submit Reading' button,
  • through the personal account on the gas.ua website,
  • on the website or personal account of their local GDO,
  • by calling the contact center at 0 800 303 104.

Following these steps ensures accurate billing and helps avoid any confusion in charges.
