Poland Officially Inducts F-35 Fighter Jets Into Its Armed Forces

Польща прийняла на озброєння сучасні винищувачі F-35 для зміцнення своїх оборонних можливостей.

F-35 Fighter Jets Join the Polish Military

Poland's armed forces have formally added the American fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet to their inventory. A ceremonial event marking this milestone was held at the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. This step represents a major advance in the modernization of Poland's air force, as the new aircraft will deliver enhanced combat readiness and cutting-edge technological capabilities.

During the ceremony, Polish pilots conducted demonstration flights over Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Kraków. High-ranking officials attended the event, including:

  • Polish President Karol Nawrocki
  • Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz
  • Senate Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska
  • Representatives from the United States

Poland placed an order for 32 F-35 Lightning II jets in 2020, with the first three aircraft arriving in late May 2026.

Regional Military Aviation Modernization

The new fighters will initially be stationed at Łask, with plans to later deploy some of them to the air base in Świdwin, a facility previously used for Soviet-era Su-22 aircraft. Notably, Ukraine intends to make Swedish Gripen fighters the backbone of its Air Force, highlighting an ongoing push for military aviation upgrades across the region.

The integration of the F-35 into Poland's military underscores the country's increasing focus on technological modernization and strengthening its defense capabilities amid a shifting geopolitical landscape. It also signals a deepening of military cooperation between Poland and the United States, a key element of security in Central and Eastern Europe. At the same time, Ukraine's active efforts to modernize its air force show that regional nations are working to adapt their armed forces to contemporary challenges.

As Poland enhances its military capabilities with the F-35 jets, Ukraine is also making strides in modernizing its air force. The introduction of Swedish Gripen fighters is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Ukraine's defense strategy, reflecting a broader regional trend towards advanced military aviation solutions.
