The school reform in Poland brings significant changes to the education system. In particular, starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, the cancellation of two subjects and the introduction of new ones is planned. Instead of 'history and modernity' and 'family life education', students will study civic education and health education.
Civic education is aimed at preparing students for participation in public life, while the new subject 'health education' will cover various aspects of human health. There will also be a modernization of the physical education program, which will include annual physical fitness assessments, more outdoor lessons, and a reduction in religious education. Additionally, new dates for winter holidays and relief measures for teachers will be introduced.
In the context of labor relations, private schools will have greater flexibility in hiring specialists, allowing experts to work up to nine hours a week. Moreover, temporary measures related to the influx of Ukrainian refugee children will come to an end, and teachers receiving compensation payments will no longer be able to work under preferential conditions as assistants to teachers or instructors of Polish to Ukrainian students.
