Poland plans to increase the number of soldiers at the eastern border to 40,000 due to the 'Zapad-2025' exercises conducted by Russia and Belarus. 'This is necessary for effective response to the situation,' noted Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk. Previously, only 10,000 soldiers were stationed at the border.
A representative of the German government announced an increase in military presence at the borders due to incidents involving Russian drones. Additionally, restrictions on flights have already been imposed in Poland until December 9, and the ground border with Belarus has been closed.
On September 10, approximately 23 drones targeting critical infrastructure invaded Polish and Lithuanian territory. The Prime Minister of Poland agreed to the proposal of the Ukrainian president to send soldiers for training to counter the drones. It was noted that the Patriot air defense systems have proven ineffective in this context, so a new strategy for fighting is needed.
Poland and Germany are strengthening their military presence at the borders with Belarus and are responding to threats, including a massive drone attack, by implementing new security measures.
