Life and Career
Born in Odesa on August 26, 1964, Skromnyi rose to fame playing the bully Makar Gusev, becoming a recognizable face in Ukrainian cinema. The film was directed by Konstantin Bromberg. He was the only child actor from the film to receive formal training at a theatrical studio attached to the Odesa Film Studio.
After his acting career, Skromnyi's life took a dramatic turn. He worked as a lifeguard on an Odesa beach, served for two years in naval aviation, and after demobilization, graduated from a nautical college. He then built a career as a deep-sea boatswain, sailing to the coasts of Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and Australia.
