Ukrainian musician, member of the legendary rock band Green Grey Andrii Yatsenko, known as 'Diesel', passed away at the age of 55. This was reported based on a publication on his Facebook page, according to the 'Glavkom' publication.
Andrii Yatsenko was born on December 25, 1969, in Kyiv. He was a Ukrainian rock musician, leader and founder of the band Green Grey, guitarist, and composer. In his work, he contributed to shaping the European worldview in Ukraine at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries.
Green Grey was formed in 1993, consisting of Andrii Yatsenko ('Diesel') and Dmytro Muravytskyi ('Murik'). The band became the first Ukrainian collective to receive the MTV Europe Music Awards (in 1996 in London and in 2009 in Berlin).
Additionally, Green Grey were the first Ukrainian artists to sign a contract with Pepsi in 1996. In 2023, the band received unexpected gratitude from the third president Viktor Yushchenko. The musicians left a comment on Yushchenko's post about the Orange Revolution.
In 2022, the band Green Grey presented the Ukrainian version of their famous song 'Emigrant'.
