Famous Ukrainian animator Radna Sakhaltyev has passed away
On August 31, a recognized Ukrainian artist-animator of Buryat descent, Radna Sakhaltyev, passed away in Kyiv. The artist was 90 years old.
The death of the legendary animator was announced by film critic Serhiy Trymbach on social media Facebook. According to him, when a group of filmmakers celebrated Sakhaltyev's 90th birthday on May 15 of this year, the artist admitted that 'he has already lived too long'. 'And so today Radna decided to draw the line under such a truly long and meaningful life,' Trymbach wrote.
The film critic described the deceased as an artist who was able to rise above the ordinary world and see people 'in a humorous positive light'. Trymbach emphasized that Sakhaltyev possessed an extraordinarily life-giving talent.
Biography and Achievements
Born in 1935 in Ulan-Ude, Sakhaltyev studied at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, where he trained as an animation artist. After graduating in 1961, he found himself in Kyiv, where he joined the artistic association 'Kyivnaukfilm'.
- He collaborated with director David Cherkasky on well-known cartoons such as 'The Adventures of Captain Vrunghiel' and 'Doctor Aibolit'.
- He contributed to the creation of the film 'How the Cossacks Played Hockey'.
From 1970 to 1980, he actively collaborated with the magazine 'Perets' and illustrated the publication 'Piznayko'. He also created illustrations for children's books published by 'Veselka', 'Ranok', and 'Folio'. In 2008, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
Radna Sakhaltyev was a recognized Ukrainian animator known for his talent and creativity. He worked on many popular cartoons, collaborated with publications and magazines, earning the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. His death was a great loss for Ukrainian culture, and his creativity will remain in the memory of fans.
