Second Cohort of the Community Recovery School Concludes
The second intake of the Community Recovery School has wrapped up in Kyiv. Over six months, participants from 40 communities across 17 regions of Ukraine worked on developing solutions for their local areas. The curriculum consisted of five modules, totaling 158 hours of theoretical and practical instruction. A total of 36 experts—both Ukrainian and international—contributed to the program, enriching the participants' learning experience.
School Achievements
As a result of the program, 29 recovery profiles were created, which can serve as a foundation for future community initiatives. For the second consecutive year, the educational partner of the project is the Metinvest Polytechnic Technical University, which has also announced the launch of its fifth admissions campaign. Across two graduation cycles, the Community Recovery School has trained over 230 managers, highlighting the initiative's success.
The project is implemented with support from the Council of Europe and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in Ukraine's recovery efforts. Oleksandr Povazhny, a project representative, stated:
“Ukraine’s recovery is first and foremost about people who are ready to act. Education must deliver practical results and contribute to rebuilding the country starting today.” - Oleksandr Povazhny
This statement emphasizes the core goal of the training program: equipping communities with the knowledge and skills needed for effective recovery and development.
The completion of the second cohort of the Community Recovery School marks a significant step in preparing professionals capable of driving positive change in their communities. At a time when Ukraine faces the need for reconstruction after numerous challenges, such initiatives help not only build a new generation of administrative leaders but also strengthen local communities. The backing of international organizations reflects global solidarity in the country’s recovery and development processes.
As communities rebuild, investment in education becomes increasingly vital. Recently, the Ukrainian government announced a substantial allocation of funds for enhancing school science and technology facilities. This development complements the objectives of the Community Recovery School, which aims to empower local leaders with the skills necessary for effective recovery.
