The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Holy See, Andrii Yurash, stated that the Pope received an invitation from the Ukrainian side, specifically from President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, it is still too early to talk about a possible visit, as the new Pope Leo XIV has just recently come to power.
The Pope has received all invitations. Primarily, from the president and church representatives. The Pope is contemplating. Obviously, this is not the right time.
Andrii Yurash also noted that a future visit by the Pope to Turkey is planned for November to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the First Nicene Council, which was initiated by Pope Francis himself.
The meeting of Zelensky and Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican
Recently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Vatican, where he met with Pope Leo XIV. During the meeting, both leaders exchanged gifts, specifically Zelensky presented the Pontiff with an icon of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus in her arms, made of wood.
According to official sources, Pope Leo XIV is considering the possibility of visiting Ukraine after receiving the invitation from the president and church representatives. At the same time, the Pope is preparing for a future visit to Turkey to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the First Nicene Council.
