The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with the representative of the NATO International Secretariat Ariella Vie to discuss the implementation of the PURL initiative. Currently, contributions from partners to cover Ukraine's priority needs amount to $2.82 billion. Meeting participants discussed the steps necessary to obtain new contributions from alliance member countries and partners that have not yet joined the program. Mechanisms for securing contributions from NATO countries for the next year were also considered.
«We have the necessary capabilities to produce a wide range of weapons, and it's not just drones. But we lack sufficient funding,» emphasized Zhovkva.
The PURL initiative was launched in August this year following agreements between the Presidents of Ukraine and the USA, as well as the NATO Secretary General. 16 countries have already joined the program, and seven more intend to participate.
The meeting between representatives of Ukraine and NATO is part of the process of discussing the implementation of the PURL initiative, which has already gathered a certain amount of funding from partners. Participants discussed future steps and ways to secure the necessary funding for the successful implementation of this program.
