Presidential Elections in Ukraine: Is Online Voting Possible and What Is Happening with the Myndych Case

The political situation in Ukraine is being discussed against the backdrop of the possibility of holding presidential elections and the development of corruption investigations. President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed support for online voting, stating that

"currently, it is not about parliamentary or local elections, but exclusively about presidential ones"
.

However, experts point to the risks of such a format, citing only one EU country – Estonia with a population of over a million. Discussions about the elections have been ongoing for more than a year.

The Situation with the Myndych Case

Simultaneously, the case of the NABU, known as the 'Myndych case', has intensified. Bureau detective Magomed Rasulov, who was recently released from custody, stated that 'the higher leadership of Ukraine may soon become a subject' of this investigation.

The head of Ukraine's negotiation delegation Rustem Umerov is involved in the case. Additionally, three bodyguards of former president Petro Poroshenko – Ruslan Hromarenko, Serhiy Valevach, and Vadym Chuchkovsky – were released from the pre-trial detention center. They are accused of accepting cash at 'Zhuliany' airport in 2019.

These events are unfolding against the backdrop of Andriy Yermak's dismissal from the position of head of the President's Office and Volodymyr Zelensky's foreign trip to Brussels to discuss financial assistance.
