Ukrainian bank 'Privatbank' found itself at the center of a scandal due to its refusal to issue a bank card to an injured defender. Commander of the Patronage Service 'Angels' Olena Tolkachova reported that the reason for the refusal was the physical impossibility of the soldier to complete the identification procedure.

The soldier turned to the institution to restore the card, but the bank manager demanded that he personally hold the plastic card near his face for a photo. This became impossible due to the veteran's lack of arms. The only option was to issue a power of attorney to another person, but this delayed access to funds for a long time.

Response from 'Privatbank'

After the incident became public, 'Privatbank' apologized for its actions. It was stated that they started an investigation and promised to deliver the cards to the client as soon as possible. They also promised to review internal procedures to avoid similar situations in the future.
