Throughout 2024, the death of 25,225 military personnel was confirmed, indicating an increase in losses compared to previous years.

Regions with the highest losses

Among the regions that have suffered the most losses, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan occupy leading positions. In 2025, the number of deaths among natives of Bashkortostan reached 8,616, while in Tatarstan this figure amounted to 7,237. Other regions also recorded significant losses:

  • Perm Krai: 5,057 people
  • Saratov Oblast: 4,638 people

In 2025, more than 80,000 petitions were submitted to recognize military personnel as dead or missing.

The mortality rate in Bashkortostan reached 6.85 per thousand able-bodied men, while in Tatarstan the death rate is 57. These figures highlight the seriousness of the situation facing the regions. According to the BBC Russian service, 2025 became 'definitely the bloodiest year.'
