The rehabilitation program through swimming for veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has started in Ternopil. Now police officers, national guards, border guards, and rescuers can attend swimming classes for free under the guidance of a qualified coach.
The training is conducted by PhD in Medical Sciences, higher category swimming coach Yaroslav Kurko. One of the veterans, Ivan Khalupa, after his injury found a new path in swimming. He actively participates in competitions and feels positive changes in his health and psychological state.
«The anxiety and phantom pains disappeared; confidence and faith that one can achieve sports heights even without a limb have increased»
Classes with the coach will be held twice a week, and the pool is specifically located on the first floor for easy access. Rehabilitation through swimming helps to recover quickly, socialize, and feel support, according to leading consultant of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region Ruslan Pelekhaty.
