Ukraine Braces for a Sharp Temperature Rise, Reaching +12°C on February 12

Люди готуються до тепла: температура може піднятися до +12°C 12 лютого.

Weather Forecast for February 12

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecasts a significant warming trend across Ukraine on February 12. This shift is driven by a cyclone from Western Europe and warm air masses moving up from the south. However, the milder temperatures will be accompanied by precipitation and a sharp drop in atmospheric pressure.

While most of the country will experience warmer conditions, the most unsettled weather is predicted for western and northern regions. Here, light rain is possible, with wet snow in some areas overnight. Moderate precipitation is also expected in the Carpathian Mountains. The rest of the country is forecast to remain dry.

  • Nighttime temperatures in the west, north, and center will range from +3 to -2 degrees Celsius.
  • Daytime highs in these regions are expected to be between 0 and +5 degrees.
  • In Transcarpathia and the south, daytime temperatures will climb to between +3 and +8 degrees.
  • The Crimea region will see highs of up to +12 degrees.
  • In eastern areas, overnight frosts from -8 to -13 degrees are possible.
  • Daytime temperatures there will hover around 0 degrees.

Kyiv and its surrounding region can expect cloudy weather with clear spells, light rain, and wet snow at night. Icy conditions may form in some places. The capital's temperatures are forecast to be around 0 degrees at night and between +1 and +3 degrees during the day. Roads across most of the country, except the south, may become icy in spots. A southerly wind of 7-12 m/s will prevail, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in the Carpathians.

Pressure will continue to fall sharply. In western and northern regions, we expect light rain in places, with wet snow possible overnight in some areas; no precipitation is anticipated for the rest of the territory.

Such a pronounced mid-winter thaw can disrupt agricultural cycles and create hazardous travel conditions. The forecasted warming and potential precipitation could impact plant development, while the risk of ice on roads necessitates caution for drivers. Meteorologists continue to monitor the situation and advise the public to remain vigilant during this period of variable weather.
