Kharkiv: Rescue Operations Underway Following Russian Strikes

Dozens of people have received psychological first aid from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) psychologists in Kharkiv region after Russian attacks. These specialists work side by side with rescue crews clearing the wreckage, stepping in within minutes of each strike to address survivors' urgent emotional needs.

Support for Victims

Over the past 24 hours, psychologists have assisted individuals caught in the epicenter of Russian assaults. According to the Psychological Service of the SES of Ukraine,

“saving someone sometimes means not just pulling them from the rubble, but also helping them endure their most overwhelming emotions.”
This work forms a critical part of civilian support during these difficult times.

This report highlights the importance of a comprehensive aid approach for war-affected populations, where medical care and psychological support complement each other. By addressing both physical injuries and emotional trauma, these interventions help prevent long-term mental health consequences. Such efforts reflect the growing prioritization of mental well-being amidst ongoing hostilities.

As the situation unfolds in Kharkiv, it is essential to recognize that similar support efforts are also taking place in Kyiv, where 144 individuals received emergency psychological assistance from the State Emergency Service. This highlights the widespread need for mental health support across affected regions, emphasizing the critical role of these services in addressing the psychological impact of ongoing conflict.
