Russian leader Vladimir Putin considers the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 to be correct and timely. He stated this during a meeting in St. Petersburg, following a report from the commander-in-chief of the Russian army. In addition, the Russian authorities expressed concern about the demobilization of participants in the war against Ukraine, as they may cause internal risks in the country. Putin called on NATO to resolve the conflict with him personally, demanding that the alliance demonstrate its strength.
“The Russian authorities recognize that the demobilization of participants in the war against Ukraine poses serious internal risks. According to estimates from the Kremlin, veterans may become a catalyst for criminal and political destabilization that could undermine the system built around personal loyalty to Putin.”
