The Economist's speaker described the meeting between Trump's representative Steve Witkoff and Putin, during which the restoration of economic relations with Russia was proposed. At that time, Putin suggested ending hostilities if Ukraine voluntarily withdraws from the controlled territories.
Putin's meeting with Trump in Alaska has already been confirmed, but Ukrainian President Zelensky confidently stated that any decisions made without Ukraine's involvement would not be valid.
Ukraine immediately reacted to Putin's proposal for a limited ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of protecting its territorial rights and highlighting that any decision that does not consider the opinion of the Ukrainian side will be invalid for them.
