Meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council

The meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council held on January 12 focused on discussing Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and the use of the new missile 'Oreshnik'. During the meeting, it was noted that Russia has used this missile against Lviv, raising concerns among allies.

Andriy Sybiha emphasized the importance of strengthening air defense, ensuring additional missiles, and supporting defense production, including interceptor drones. He pointed out that these issues remain urgent priorities for Ukraine and its partners.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte noted that Russia is trying to intimidate allies by using the 'Oreshnik' missile to undermine support for Ukraine.

The meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council has become an important step in strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance in the face of new security challenges.

Growing concern of allies

This meeting underscores the growing concern among allies regarding threats from Russia, particularly due to new weapon technologies. Strengthening air defense and obtaining additional military aid are becoming critically important to ensure Ukraine's security and to support stability in the region.
