Strike on Dnipro Claims 12 Lives, Including Two Children

Атака на Дніпрі забрала життя 12 осіб, серед яких двоє дітей.

Attack on Dnipro

On June 2, Russian forces launched a strike on the city of Dnipro, causing casualties among children and damaging a multi-story residential building. As of 2:20 PM that same day, authorities confirmed 12 fatalities, including two children, and 37 people wounded. Among the injured are a brother and his eight-year-old sister, both hospitalized in moderate condition.

Official Response

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov signed a decree declaring June 3, 2026, a day of mourning. Officials also reported that the nature of the damage indicates Russia deliberately used cluster munitions in the attack.

'The pattern of injuries to infrastructure and people clearly points to Russia’s intentional use of cluster weapons to maximize civilian and rescue worker casualties,' said Borys Filatov.

The information about the strike was provided by Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance to those affected.

This incident underscores the escalating violence and threat to civilians in Ukraine. The use of cluster munitions has drawn serious concern from international organizations, as such actions violate principles of international humanitarian law. By declaring a day of mourning, Dnipro’s leadership emphasizes the importance of honoring the victims and supporting their families during this difficult time.

The tragic strike on Dnipro highlights a worrying trend in the ongoing conflict, particularly regarding the use of banned weaponry. This incident follows a previous attack where cluster munitions resulted in civilian deaths, raising alarms about the increasing danger to non-combatants. As the situation evolves, it is crucial to stay informed about the implications of such military tactics on the local population.
