Mine safety event for children
A mine safety workshop was held for children by rescuers from the Sumy Mobile Rapid Response Center, with the help of their four-legged colleague Toto. During the session, kids took part in physical exercises and watched educational UNICEF cartoons that explained why following safety rules is so important.
At the end of the event, each child received information materials created jointly by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and UNICEF Ukraine. These booklets outline key rules for mine safety and safe behavior that can prove useful in everyday life. The initiative helped raise children's awareness of critical safety issues in today's challenging environment.
Why educating children matters
This event highlights the importance of teaching children about mine safety, especially in areas where unexploded ordnance remains a threat. Raising awareness among the younger generation can help prevent accidents and create a safer environment for children in their daily lives.
Similar initiatives are taking place across Ukraine, as demonstrated by a recent event where children in Irpin learned essential safety skills from rescue professionals. These programs are vital in fostering a culture of safety among the youth, equipping them with knowledge that can help mitigate risks in their everyday lives.
