Semen Horov's Opinion on Taisia Povalij

Director Semen Horov reacted to the news that the son of singer Taisia Povalij ended communication with her, and also recalled her political activity in 2012. He shared his thoughts on how personal relationships and political views can be incompatible, and that it is not always possible to find an explanation for this.

In the past, Horov collaborated with Povalij: he filmed a clip for her song "Ydi" and participated in the creation of videos for other compositions, including:

  • "Charmed Violin"
  • "Let Me Go"
  • "It Will Be Like This"
  • "Calendar of Love"

In his comments, he confessed that he found it difficult to understand how one could sever ties with a close person.

"I recently came across one of her interviews. If she decided to break off with her son... I don't even know how to call it: it's some kind of mankurtism," said Horov.

Political Position of Taisia Povalij

Taisia Povalij, elected as a people's deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation from the "Party of Regions" in 2012, was in the circle of the ex-president Viktor Yanukovych's close associates. Her political views have always been evident, however, after the Revolution of Dignity, the artist moved to Russia. There, she participated in propaganda actions, supported the so-called "special military operation," and justified armed aggression against Ukraine.

The Vinnytsia City Court sentenced Taisia Povalij to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaboration and support of Russian aggression. Povalij was found guilty of spreading anti-Ukrainian narratives.

"You know, I don't like to judge people, but some things are hard for me to comprehend. I actually knew Taisia Povalij personally, we worked together. She did not hide her political beliefs back then — she was a trusted person of Yanukovych. But when after everything that happened, you start speaking against your own country, against the people who live and die here, — I cannot accept that," concluded Semen Horov.

Semen Horov's statements highlight how complex personal and political relationships can be, as well as reflect the growing public tension around the collaborative actions of certain individuals. The condemnation of Taisia Povalij for collaborating with the aggressor became an important signal that society is not willing to tolerate betrayal, even when it involves celebrities. These events vividly demonstrate how political beliefs can destroy personal ties and deepen social divides.
