A medieval tower collapses in Rome: rescuers found a worker under the rubble

In the center of Rome, near the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, part of the 29-meter medieval tower Torre dei Conti collapsed. According to local media, one of the workers trapped under the rubble was rescued after prolonged searches, reports the BBC and 'Glavkom'.



Rescuers retrieved the man at 11:00 PM local time, nearly 12 hours after the tower collapsed. The victim, a citizen of Romania, was hospitalized, while another injured person is in critical condition.



Torre dei Conti had been closed to visitors for many years and was undergoing restoration at the time of the collapse. Firefighters set up protective structures around the worker, which helped him survive during a second collapse. The incident occurred on the morning of November 3 in the Imperial Fora in the center of Rome.



As a result of the collapse of part of the medieval tower Torre dei Conti in Rome, one worker was rescued, but another was trapped under the rubble. This emphasizes the importance of maintaining safety during construction and restoration work, especially on historically valuable sites.
