Ukraine's automotive sector is undergoing a significant transformation in 2025, with clear diverging trends between new and used gasoline-powered vehicles. The market share for new gasoline cars has fallen from 40% in 2024 to just 32% this year. Sales of new gasoline models reached 26.3 thousand units, a 6% decrease from the previous period. Despite this overall decline, new gasoline vehicles continue to lead in certain specific market segments.

In contrast to the slump in new car sales, demand for used imported gasoline cars has jumped by 12%. Data shows that 117.6 thousand used gasoline vehicles were registered in 2025, accounting for 43% of the entire used car market. This trend underscores that pre-owned foreign models remain the dominant choice for import, a pattern common in many developing economies where affordability is a key driver.

The most popular new gasoline models in 2025 were:

  • HYUNDAI Tucson (2,198 units)
  • MAZDA CX-5 (1,652 units)
  • SKODA Octavia (1,458 units)
  • RENAULT Duster (1,289 units)
  • KIA Sportage (1,157 units)

Leaders in the used gasoline car segment were:

  • VOLKSWAGEN Golf (7,889 units)
  • VOLKSWAGEN Tiguan (6,204 units)
  • AUDI Q5 (6,093 units)
  • NISSAN Rogue (5,665 units)
  • AUDI A4 (3,961 units)

Consequently, Ukraine's 2025 gasoline car market shows a clear trend: the share of new models is shrinking, while used imports are gaining substantial popularity among consumers.

These market shifts are likely influenced by several factors, including the broader economic climate, rising prices for new vehicles, and evolving consumer preferences. The shrinking market share for new gasoline cars indicates that buyers are increasingly seeking more affordable options. Used cars, which often offer better value for money, are becoming more attractive.
