Ukrainians have been clarified on how work during weekends is paid during martial law. According to 'Khvylya', the Main Directorate of the State Labor Service of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region noted that the system of labor relations has changed during martial law, particularly regarding weekend work.
According to Law No. 2136-IX 'On the organization of labor relations under martial law', the period of martial law suspends the action of Article 73 of the Labor Code. Therefore, Saturday and Sunday remain in effect as weekends. When the duration of working time exceeds the legal norm, payment should be made with an additional allowance. The principle of compensation for work on weekends remains unchanged, with the possibility for the employee to choose to receive an additional day off or a cash payment in double the amount with the consent of the parties before formalizing the order. This approach guarantees fair compensation under martial law.
