Roman Kravets Resigns Parliamentary Mandate
Citing vision problems and a lack of sufficient experience to work effectively during wartime, Roman Kravets has resigned his parliamentary mandate as a member of Ukraine's 'Servant of the People' party. Kravets, who was officially recognized as a People's Deputy, has traveled to Israel to address his health issues. This resignation highlights the immense pressure on Ukrainian officials since Russia's full-scale invasion.
Political Background
Kravets previously ran for parliament in 2019 but was unsuccessful, placing 153rd on his party's electoral list. At that time, he worked as deputy director for IT and security at 'SSL Consulting' LLC. His political involvement dates back to 2015, when he assisted Gennadiy Korban during a parliamentary by-election in the 205th electoral district (Chernihiv).
Since the full-scale war began, Kravets has traveled abroad eight times. He made five trips before June 2024 and three more between June and October. The next candidate on the 'Servant of the People' party list, Bohdan Kozub, is now in line to receive the mandate.
"I have made a personal decision not to enter the Verkhovna Rada and to refuse the deputy mandate," stated Roman Kravets.
Kravets's resignation is a significant event within Ukraine's wartime political landscape. It underscores the challenges some officials face in fulfilling their duties under extreme circumstances, which can impact the composition and function of the parliament. With Bohdan Kozub set to assume the seat, the party may see a shift in its parliamentary representation.
