Russian Drone Strikes Target Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih: Casualties and Damage Reported

Атака російських безпілотників спричинила руйнування в Хмельницькому та Кривому Розі: відомі перші втрати та наслідки.

Drone Attacks Hit Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih

In the early hours of April 1, Russian drones struck the Ukrainian cities of Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih. According to Serhiy Tyurin, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, the attack in Khmelnytskyi ignited a fire at an industrial facility. No casualties were reported from this strike.

Separately, Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region also came under drone attack. The head of the city's defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported that a 22-year-old man was wounded. The strike targeted the city's infrastructure.

A Series of Attacks on Kryvyi Rih

These latest strikes follow a series of attacks on Kryvyi Rih on March 27 and 28. On March 27, around 9:00 PM, the city was hit by Iranian-made 'Shahed' drones, damaging industrial and energy infrastructure.

Vilkul stated that the March 28 attack resulted in fatalities:

  • Two men were killed;
  • Two others were injured.

An industrial plant was damaged and fires broke out. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanha, confirmed the consequences of this attack.

These nighttime assaults are part of Russia's ongoing campaign of aggression, which continues to cause destruction and loss of life in Ukraine. The conflict has increasingly seen the use of long-range drones and missiles to strike targets far from the front lines.

These attacks underscore a growing trend in the use of drones for military operations, marking a new phase in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

They also highlight the urgent need to strengthen defenses for Ukraine's critical infrastructure and civilian population, as such strikes can inflict severe damage on both the economy and human life.

The recent drone strikes in Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih add to a troubling pattern of assaults that have increasingly targeted Ukrainian cities. In light of these developments, it's important to consider the broader implications of such attacks on civilian safety and infrastructure.
