Missile Strike on Lviv
On February 11, 2026, Russian forces launched an attack on the city of Lviv using Kh-47M2 'Kinzhal' aeroballistic missiles. According to reports, both incoming missiles were successfully destroyed by Ukrainian air defense systems before reaching their targets. An air raid alert was issued at 14:39, with the all-clear for the Lviv region being given at 15:27. No direct impacts on residential buildings or critical infrastructure were recorded.
Following the alert, local emergency services conducted a sweep of the area. Despite the absence of widespread destruction from the missile strike, a man was found dead under the rubble of a collapsed two-story building in the village of Duliby, Stryi district. The explosion in Duliby also injured three people, who required hospitalization.
Regional Situation
High-speed targets were detected heading toward Lviv at 14:40. The missiles entered the region's airspace via the Zhytomyr and Rivne oblasts. At 14:45, residents of Lviv and its suburbs reported hearing a series of loud explosions, which were the result of the air defense systems engaging the threats. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi described the situation as
'titanic'.
This incident underscores the persistent threat Russian forces pose to Ukrainian cities, even in the face of effective air defense. The 'Kinzhal' missile is one of Russia's most advanced weapons, making its interception a significant tactical success. While mass casualties were averted, the tragic death in Duliby highlights the ongoing danger to civilians in a war zone. The performance of Ukrainian air defenses prevented widespread devastation, yet the situation remains tense, and residents are urged to maintain vigilance even as immediate threats subside.
