Rail Infrastructure in Synelnykove Targeted

Russian forces have launched attacks on the railway infrastructure at the Synelnykove station, causing significant damage and severely limiting train traffic between the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. Over the past day, the railway facilities were struck seven times by unmanned aerial vehicles. The attacks resulted in damage to:

  • Parked electric train carriages;
  • Freight wagons;
  • Locomotives;
  • Railway tracks;
  • Power lines;
  • Administrative and industrial buildings.

An air raid alert has been active in the region for 16 consecutive hours. Despite the extensive material damage, there have been no reported civilian casualties. Ukraine's state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has confirmed that travel restrictions between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia remain in place. All trains scheduled to depart from Zaporizhzhia are now being rerouted to originate from Dnipro instead. For passengers on evening services, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration is organizing replacement bus transfers.

Impact on Civilian Infrastructure

These strikes are part of a wider pattern of attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, which has been a consistent feature of the war. The disruption of this key rail link complicates transportation between two major regional hubs, likely affecting the local economy and the mobility of residents. The response by local authorities, including arranging alternative bus transport, demonstrates efforts to mitigate the impact on passengers and ensure their safety during the ongoing air raid alerts.
