The Russian company 'Rosatom' may suspend hostilities near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to carry out repairs on the power transmission lines as early as October 17. The head of the company, Alexey Likhachev, reported this, citing Russian media.
The Ukrainian authorities denied accusations regarding problems with repairs on their side. They confirmed their readiness to begin repairs and plan to restore power supply to the nuclear plant. Currently, the station is operating on diesel generators after the power outage on September 23.
'This region is in a combat zone, so we must be very careful in approaching this complex issue. The repair of the power transmission lines must be conducted from both sides of the front, at a distance from the facility itself,' emphasized IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
