The EU is preparing for new discussions on support for Ukraine
The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated that Russia will not have the opportunity to access its frozen assets until it compensates Ukraine for the damages inflicted. Discussions are currently being prepared in Brussels regarding further talks on supporting Kyiv, as reported by Ukrinform.
Kallas noted that one of the main topics at the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers will be the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine due to Russia's actions, as well as mechanisms to enhance support from the European Union. The possibility of using frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine will also be discussed.
‘Russia shows no desire for peace,’ emphasized the EU's High Representative, pointing to the need for Moscow to achieve a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
Earlier, the European Union transferred €1.6 billion to Ukraine from revenues generated from frozen assets of the Russian Federation.
The European Union is preparing for a new round of discussions regarding support for Ukraine in the context of the conflict in the east of the country and the use of frozen Russian assets. The EU's High Representative urges Moscow to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict and reminds of the necessity to compensate for the damages inflicted on Ukraine before gaining access to its assets.
