The Russian military transport to the Khmeimim airbase in Syria has resumed after a six-month pause. According to the flight tracking system Flightradar24, at least two military transporters have departed for the Syrian province of Latakia. These airlifts have resumed despite the fact that the facilities in Khmeimim and Tartus are not only critically important for the Russian army, but are also under threat due to possible changes in power in Syria.

A source close to the Kremlin confirmed to the publication the fact of the resumption of air communication with Syrian bases.

The Khmeimim airbase and the naval port of Tartus play a key role in supporting Russian military operations in the region. However, after the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime, the future of these facilities has become uncertain. The new authorities in Syria may reconsider the agreement regarding military presence, which would lead to serious strategic problems for Russia.

In short, after a pause, Russian military transports to the Khmeimim airbase in Syria have resumed, but this is happening in the context of a threat to Russian facilities, as the future of their presence in the region is uncertain due to political changes in Syria.
