Following the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia, at least 210 sites across the Russian Federation and in occupied territories have been used for the illegal detention of deported children. This is evidenced by the data from the Yale University Humanitarian Research Lab, which documents the illegal transport of Ukrainian children to Russia, reports the Center for Countering Disinformation.
According to experts, more than half of these places are controlled by federal and local authorities in Russia. In particular, Ukrainian children were placed in a recreation center managed by the Russian President's administration. 'For example, in the Moscow region complex 'Snegiri', a center called 'Young Patriot' was established, where children are subjected to systematic 're-education'. Researchers documented cases where children were transported by planes belonging to the Russian President's administration to participate in military programs. At dozens of sites, children aged 8 and older were taught shooting, grenade throwing, tactical medicine, and drone management,' noted the Center.
Most of these locations also conduct 'cultural-patriotic' events that promote Russian ideology and detach children from Ukrainian identity. Analysts point out that the actual number of such places may be even greater, and the fate of many children remains unknown.
Summary
Since the beginning of the invasion of Russia, it has become clear that at least 210 sites across the country and in occupied territories are being used for the illegal detention of children deported from Ukraine. Children in these facilities are subjected to a large-scale 're-education' program that promotes Russian ideology and separates them from Ukrainian culture and identity.
