In response to recent long-range Ukrainian attacks—including the destruction of a Russian Su-35 on the eastern front by Ukrainian forces on July 8—Moscow has launched a crash program to bolster defenses at one of its most critical aviation facilities: the aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, which produces the Su-57 and Su-35 fighter jets. Construction and Protective Measures
Work is actively underway at both the plant and the nearby Dzyomgi airbase, where Su-57, Su-35, and Su-30SM2 aircraft are stationed. A large new production hangar is nearly complete, and additional shelters are being built around fighters on the tarmac. Some of these shelters are designed to hold two or three aircraft at once.
