Attack on the Saky Military Airfield

According to Главком: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) carried out a strike on the Saky military airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea. The operation targeted the airfield's infrastructure, specifically hangars housing aircraft. Five drone impacts were confirmed on hangars containing Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets at the time of the attack. Following the strike, a fire broke out in one hangar where an Su-30SM was located, indicating a successful hit on the objective.

Strategic Strikes and Presidential Remarks

Each Su-30 aircraft is estimated to be worth between 30 and 50 million dollars. Concurrently, Ukrainian defense forces also struck an oil refinery in Ufa and a military plant in Penza. The distance to the Ufa refinery exceeds 1,300 kilometers from the front line. These operations underscore Ukraine's growing capability to hit high-value targets deep within Russian territory.

'For the second time, our sanctions responses to Russia's prolongation of the war have reached the oil refinery in Ufa-one of Russia's largest lubricant producers.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy

On the night of July 1, 2026, drones attacked occupied Donetsk, likely hitting a parking area for occupiers' logistics vehicles.

This SBU operation highlights the intensification of Ukrainian forces' actions amid the armed conflict and their efforts to destroy enemy military infrastructure. The strike on the Saky airfield, along with attacks on strategic sites inside Russia, demonstrates Ukraine's aim to reduce Russia's combat capabilities and showcase its long-range strike ability. Such actions could shift the regional military balance and send a signal to the international community about the conflict's escalation.

The recent strike on the Saky airbase is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine to cripple Russian military capabilities.
