Massive Strikes Across Ukraine
Over the past seven days, Russia launched approximately 2,200 attack drones, more than 1,800 guided aerial bombs, and 87 missiles of various types against Ukraine. At least seven people were killed in these attacks: five in Zaporizhzhia and two in Poltava. Additionally, 26 people were wounded in Zaporizhzhia, while in Poltava 12 were injured, including six children. This sustained bombardment underscores the ongoing intensity of the conflict, which has now entered its second year.
Infrastructure Under Fire
Multiple regions across Ukraine came under fire, including:
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Kharkiv
- Odesa
- Sumy
- Donetsk
- Kirovohrad
- Rivne
In the Poltava district, strikes hit the grounds of two industrial facilities, indicating deliberate attacks on infrastructure. On the night of June 21, Russian forces also targeted Kropyvnytskyi, where an infrastructure object was struck, sparking a fire.
That same night, Ukraine faced attacks involving two Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles. Additionally, 105 attack drones were launched.
The head of state expressed condolences to the families of the victims: 'Just yesterday, Russian guided bomb strikes in Zaporizhzhia killed five people and wounded 26 others. In Poltava, shelling tragically claimed two lives and left 12 injured, among them six children.'
The head of state also noted that 'our front-line and border communities are constantly under drone attacks. Over this week alone, the Russians launched about 2,200 attack drones, more than 1,800 guided aerial bombs, and 87 missiles of various types at Ukraine.' In light of these strikes, he thanked international partners for their support and called for the swift implementation of new protective measures, particularly the supply of air defense missiles.
These events highlight an escalation in the conflict and a ramping up of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The ongoing assaults on civilian infrastructure and populated areas underscore the severe threat to the safety of Ukrainian citizens. A critical component of the response to these challenges is international support for Ukraine, which, as the head of state emphasized, must include not only humanitarian aid but also military assistance, especially in the form of air defense systems. This reinforces the need for a consolidated international effort to ensure stability in the region.
As the conflict escalates, the recent wave of attacks highlights the persistent threat faced by Ukraine. In a related incident, Russian forces launched a significant overnight offensive, unleashing over 700 missiles and drones in a single night, further illustrating the ongoing intensity of hostilities in the region.
