Massive Strike Across Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: In one of the most extensive combined attacks to date, Russia launched a large-scale assault on Ukraine during the night of June 2. A total of 729 aerial threats were recorded, consisting of 73 missiles and 656 drones. Kyiv was the primary target, but the cities of Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Poltava region also came under fire. The attack resulted in civilian casualties, including both deaths and injuries.

As of 8:30 AM, Ukraine's air defense systems had successfully intercepted or neutralized 642 targets, including 40 missiles and 602 drones. However, the attack still achieved 33 missile strikes and 33 drone impacts across 38 locations. Debris from downed devices fell at 15 sites. In Kyiv, four people were killed, and 65 were wounded, among them three children. Thirty-eight of the injured required hospitalization. Five medical facilities in the capital were damaged, notably in the Holosiivskyi district, where the second and third floors of one hospital were destroyed. A production site belonging to the energy company DTEK was also hit, temporarily cutting off electricity to 140,000 residents in the Sviatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts. Power was later restored to 110,000 households.

Regional Impact of the Assault

The most tragic consequences unfolded in Dnipro, where eight people lost their lives, including a child born in 2023 and a rescuer. Another 35 individuals were injured, among them three children, with four in critical condition. Partial destruction occurred at two- and four-story residential buildings, as well as at a local enterprise. In Kharkiv, an attack involving 15 drones and two missiles left eight people injured, including one child. Three people were wounded in the Kyiv region. In Zaporizhzhia, the strikes targeted industrial facilities and a residential building, while Sumy reported no casualties despite the assault.

Emergency services remain on the ground, continuing to address the aftermath of the massive attack on Kyiv, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He noted that people are still seeking medical assistance.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a representative of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, emphasized that the enemy is fully aware of when response teams arrive at strike sites and often launches secondary attacks.

He added that this large-scale assault was a pre-planned operation, not a spontaneous reaction to recent events.

This attack marks another escalation in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, highlighting not only the destructive capacity of military hardware but also its direct toll on civilians. Experts suggest that such massive strikes may be part of a strategic campaign aimed at destabilizing Ukraine, underscoring the critical need for continued international support to counter aggression. With each assault, questions of safety and civilian protection grow more urgent, as the consequences ripple through the lives of hundreds of people and their families.

The ongoing conflict continues to take a heavy toll, as evidenced by another recent attack that resulted in casualties in Ukraine's Rivne region. This incident highlights the broader impact of the relentless assaults on various parts of the country.
