Ukraine Endures Major Russian Barrage
In the early hours of March 24, the Russian Federation launched a massive, coordinated assault on Ukraine, deploying over 390 unmanned aerial vehicles and 34 missiles. The assault caused severe damage, with residential buildings destroyed in Zaporizhzhia and Poltava. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone strike hit an apartment building, killing one person and injuring five others. Separately, a drone crashed into a train in Kharkiv. Preliminary reports indicate at least 4 people were killed and more than 20, including children, were wounded across the country.
During the attack, Ukrainian defenses intercepted a significant portion of the incoming weapons, with 6 missiles and 27 attack drones confirmed to have struck 22 locations, and debris from downed drones falling in 10 other areas. Information regarding 3 additional enemy missiles is still being verified. The strike on the Poltava community damaged private homes and a hotel building. Kateryna Maternova described it as
