Ukraine Endures Major Russian Barrage

In the early hours of March 24, the Russian Federation launched a massive, coordinated assault on Ukraine, deploying over 390 unmanned aerial vehicles and 34 missiles. The attack targeted 11 separate regions, resulting in widespread destruction, casualties, and fatalities. As Kateryna Maternova reported,

“Russia carried out another massive night attack on Ukraine, using over 390 drones and 34 missiles that hit 11 regions”
. This represents one of the largest combined aerial assaults in recent months, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict.

Widespread Damage and Civilian Casualties

The assault caused severe damage, with residential buildings destroyed in Zaporizhzhia and Poltava. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone strike hit an apartment building, killing one person and injuring five others. Separately, a drone crashed into a train in Kharkiv. Preliminary reports indicate at least 4 people were killed and more than 20, including children, were wounded across the country.

During the attack, Ukrainian defenses intercepted a significant portion of the incoming weapons, with 6 missiles and 27 attack drones confirmed to have struck 22 locations, and debris from downed drones falling in 10 other areas. Information regarding 3 additional enemy missiles is still being verified. The strike on the Poltava community damaged private homes and a hotel building. Kateryna Maternova described it as
