Coordinated Strikes Target Three Major Cities
In a major overnight assault on February 3rd, Russian forces launched a combined attack using ballistic missiles and attack drones against the Ukrainian cities of Dnipro, Kyiv, and Kharkiv. The strikes primarily targeted energy infrastructure and residential districts, a tactic that has become a grim hallmark of the winter campaign.
The attack on Dnipro and its surrounding region lasted approximately 20 minutes and involved up to 10 'Iskander' ballistic missiles and dozens of attack drones. A key objective was the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant. Similar tactics were employed in the simultaneous strikes on Kyiv and Kharkiv.
Widespread Damage and Civilian Impact
In Kyiv, several residential high-rise buildings and an educational facility in the Dniprovskyi district were damaged. In Kharkiv, a ballistic missile struck the city's Slobidskyi district, with reports of a second missile hitting the same area later. Earlier on the evening of February 2nd, Russian forces had also attacked Kharkiv with drones, including a 'Shahed' model, which struck the city center.
This large-scale attack represents a significant escalation in the conflict, underscoring Russia's continued strategy of targeting critical civilian infrastructure. Such strikes severely strain Ukraine's national power grid and pose a direct threat to civilian safety in targeted urban areas. The reported damage to residential neighborhoods highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for protective aid for the population.
