Сили ППО України успішно знешкодили більшість загроз під час масованої атаки ворога з використанням 342 ракет і дронів.

Ukraine Endures Major Overnight Assault

In the early hours of January 20, Russian forces launched a massive, multi-vector attack across Ukraine, employing a wide array of missiles and drones. The primary focus of the assault was the Kyiv region. Ukrainian air defense units successfully intercepted a significant majority of the incoming hostile targets.

Attack Details and Interception Results

The attack involved the following arsenal:

  • One 'Zircon' anti-ship missile
  • 18 ballistic missiles, including 'Iskander-M' and 'S-300' types
  • 15 Kh-101 cruise missiles

The bulk of the attack consisted of 339 one-way attack drones, including models like Shahed, 'Gerbera', and 'Italmas'. By 10:00 AM, Ukraine's air defense command confirmed the destruction or neutralization of 342 targets, specifically:

  • 14 'Iskander-M' and 'S-300' ballistic missiles
  • 13 Kh-101 cruise missiles
  • 315 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

Despite the high interception rate, five missiles and 24 attack drones struck 11 different locations. Falling debris from downed drones was also recorded at 12 other sites. Information regarding two enemy missiles is still being verified. This large-scale attack is part of Russia's ongoing campaign to target Ukrainian energy and civilian infrastructure, especially during winter.

'Every package of support makes a difference.' Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The assault underscores the continued intensity of the armed conflict, where both sides deploy advanced military technology. The effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense in this instance highlights the critical role of sustained international military aid in countering aerial threats and protecting the country's security. President Zelenskyy's statement emphasizes the ongoing necessity of this support for Ukraine's future defense capabilities.
