Внаслідок російського авіудару по парку в Новій Водолазі загинуло шестеро людей, серед яких троє дітей.

Deadly Drone Attack Strikes Central Park in Nova Vodolaha

On October 19, Russian forces launched a drone strike on the main park in Nova Vodolaha, located in the Kharkiv region, resulting in the deaths of six people, among them three children. An additional 15 individuals were wounded, including seven children. The attack occurred around 4:30 PM and was carried out using a 'Geran-3' type drone. At the time of the strike, the park was crowded with families and children enjoying the area.

Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated, "Tragically, the death toll from the Russian assault in Nova Vodolaha has risen to six, including three children."

Among the injured are 15 victims, seven of whom are children. Medical teams are providing urgent care, with critical cases being transported to hospitals in Kharkiv by emergency responders, according to Syniehubov.

Aftermath and Investigation

The strike also caused damage to a café building within the park. Law enforcement and emergency services are currently securing the area and conducting thorough searches for unexploded ordnance. The prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into this incident as a potential war crime. This attack is part of a broader pattern of violence during the ongoing conflict, which has seen numerous civilian casualties across Ukraine:

  • On October 10, Russian airstrikes in Zaporizhzhia claimed 12 lives, including three children.
  • On October 7, missile attacks targeted Pryluky in Chernihiv region, killing 22 people, five of them children, and injuring 54 others.

This tragic event in Nova Vodolaha highlights the severe risks faced by civilians amid the ongoing war. Attacks on public spaces, such as parks where families gather, underscore the increasing dangers for those seeking normalcy amidst conflict. International attention remains critical to enforce protections for civilians and prevent further loss of innocent lives.

The tragic events in Nova Vodolaha are part of a disturbing trend of escalating violence in the Kharkiv region. Just recently, drone strikes targeted two districts in Kharkiv, resulting in fires and numerous injuries. This pattern of attacks on civilian areas raises serious concerns about safety and security for residents.
