Attacks Hit Zaporizhzhia and Sumy Region
On June 25, the Russian military launched a strike on a gas station in Zaporizhzhia, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration. At 09:06, he had warned of a ballistic missile threat targeting the area. One woman was wounded by a drone strike, and another unmanned aerial vehicle sparked a fire at the site.
“The smoke residents are seeing is from the enemy attack on the gas station,” Fedorov stated.
That same day, Russian forces also hit a fuel station in Sumy’s Zarichny district, leaving four civilians injured. These incidents are part of a broader wave of attacks over several days:
- On June 21, the Russian army used a drone to strike another gas station in Zaporizhzhia.
- On June 24, Naftogaz fuel stations in three regions came under fire, along with a gas extraction site in Poltava region, resulting in one person suffering serious injuries.
“One woman was injured by an enemy drone. Another UAV caused a fire. The alert is ongoing—stay in safe places,” added Ivan Fedorov.
Regional Situation
The escalating military situation in Ukraine, particularly in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy regions, highlights the continued targeting of civilian infrastructure by Russian forces. These actions heighten risks for the local population and underscore the precarious security environment. Authorities urge residents to follow safety protocols and remain in shelters during air raid warnings.
The recent attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy are part of a troubling trend, as evidenced by the increasing number of strikes in the region. On the same day, nearly 50 strikes targeted Sumy, further illustrating the escalating threat to civilian safety and infrastructure. The ongoing military actions are raising alarm among local authorities and residents alike.
