Situation in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions
As a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions are almost completely without power. Critical infrastructure in these regions is currently operating on backup power. Emergency restoration work will begin as soon as the security situation allows.
In Zaporizhia, mobile communication is operating in emergency mode. Base stations have been switched to battery power, which can provide communication for approximately 8 hours. The mayor of Zaporizhia, Ivan Fedorov, urged residents to limit mobile communication usage unless absolutely necessary. Also, according to Mykola Lukashuk, power outages may cause issues with mobile communication.
Current situation in Zaporizhia
Currently, no air raid alarms can be heard in Zaporizhia. Ukrzaliznytsia has switched all trains in the region to backup thermal traction, and trains are moving with controlled delays. All hospitals in Zaporizhia are operating as usual, and water supply, as promised, will be restored within an hour. Additionally, 120 points of resilience have been launched in the city to support the population during the crisis.
This attack on energy infrastructure highlights the vulnerability of Ukraine's critical systems and the impact of war on the daily lives of the population. In the context of an energy crisis, prompt response from services is crucial to ensure safety and stability in the affected regions. Authorities and utility services continue to take measures to support the population, demonstrating their readiness to respond to such situations.
