Attacks Across Dnipropetrovsk Region on March 2, 2024
On March 2, 2024, Russian military strikes on Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in the deaths of two civilians and left two others wounded. The attacks, which involved guided aerial bombs, FPV drones, artillery, and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) against multiple communities, caused significant destruction and civilian casualties. This region, home to major industrial cities, has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began.
Details of the Assaults
In the Synelnykove district, a guided aerial bomb strike on a village within the Pokrovska community killed a police officer from the Synelnykove District Police Department No. 5. The attack destroyed one private house and damaged four other homes. Separately, an FPV drone attack in the Malomykhailivska community killed a 66-year-old man who was riding a moped. Around 07:30, a drone strike on a village in the Myrivska community within the Nikopol district wounded two women, aged 40 and 42.
Over the previous day, more than 90 strikes were recorded in the Nikopol district alone, utilizing FPV drones, artillery, and MLRS. The shelling damaged:
- Civilian vehicles
- Five-story apartment buildings
- Private residences
- Commercial structures in the cities of Nikopol and Marhanets, as well as villages in the Marhanetska and Pokrovska communities.
Attacks in the Kryvyi Rih district also caused damage to the Zelenodolska and Karpivska communities, as well as the cities of Kryvyi Rih and Apostolove. There, a building facade and two enterprises were damaged, though no casualties were reported.
“The enemy struck Kryvyi Rih. An enterprise in the city was damaged. Several fires broke out there,” noted Oleksandr Ganzha.
These events underscore the escalating intensity of hostilities in the region and the continued aggression by Russian forces, which poses a direct threat to the civilian population.
The situation in Dnipropetrovsk remains severe, highlighting the protracted nature of the conflict and its devastating impact on non-combatants. The targeting of civilian infrastructure and the resulting loss of life illustrate the peril faced by communities in the area and the ongoing need for support from the state and international community to protect civilians and restore security.
