Drone Strike Targets UN Humanitarian Vehicle in Kherson
Russian forces launched a drone attack on a vehicle belonging to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Kherson district of Korabelny. Two Russian drones hit the car, which was carrying the mission chief and eight other staff members. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, stated: 'Together with military and police personnel, we promptly evacuated the mission representatives—they are now in a safe location.'
The attack caused damage to UN vehicles.
Funding for Protective Measures and Infrastructure Restoration
Ukraine's government has allocated 96 million hryvnias from the state budget reserve fund to build anti-drone protective structures in Kherson and along evacuation routes in the region. This funding will enable the installation of anti-drone barriers on 27 new road sections spanning over 200 kilometers. Currently, more than 190 kilometers of roads are already covered by such protective structures.
Additionally, Yurii Ihnat, head of communications for the Ukrainian Air Force, warned of a high threat of further missile strikes. He noted that during the latest attack, the enemy did not use Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles or Iskander-K systems, instead relying on strategic aviation and ballistic weapons like the Iskander-M.
As of early May, 45% of the annual road repair plan has been completed, with 203 crews working daily to restore road surfaces.
