Summer Vacation Woes in Crimea

Russian singer Yuri Loza has voiced frustration over a ruined summer getaway in Crimea, blaming strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a severe gasoline shortage. Relatives living in Kerch have advised him against traveling to the peninsula due to ongoing explosions and attacks on critical infrastructure. Loza, who previously visited occupied Crimea in 2020, expressed growing concerns about safety in the region.

The singer stated that he received updates from family members based in Kerch. They reported that 'the Ukrainians have been hitting the city hard for two days straight.' Loza noted that while earlier attacks targeted the bridge, the focus has now shifted to oil supplies and delivery routes.

“There’s no panic, but we’ve been urged to skip our usual trip to Crimea for now,” said Yuri Loza.
He also emphasized that the fuel situation 'hasn’t improved at all.'

Infrastructure Breakdown

Crimea is experiencing power outages, fuel shortages, and logistical disruptions. The occupation authorities have reported restrictions on transportation and public services. Loza, who was added to the Myrotvorets database in 2017 for promoting Russian aggression, admitted, 'I’d love to go to the sea, but the doubts keep piling up.'

In recent days, Ukrainian forces have struck military, oil, and logistics targets across occupied Crimea. Reports indicate infrastructure damage in the Kerch, Feodosia, and Sevastopol areas, as well as the destruction of a bridge over the North Crimean Canal. Russian authorities have acknowledged fuel and electricity supply problems, leading to scheduled blackouts on the peninsula. These events have intensified fears that Crimea is becoming increasingly isolated.

According to Loza, the situation in Crimea reflects rising tensions that could have lasting consequences for local residents and the tourism sector. Ongoing energy and fuel shortages, combined with military strikes, may severely impact daily life as occupation authorities struggle to maintain control amid growing dangers. These factors risk further cutting Crimea off from the rest of Ukraine and the international community.

The ongoing fuel crisis in Crimea has not only impacted vacation plans but also led to significant disruptions in local services. For instance, a recent hotel promotion offering free gasoline was cut short due to a severe shortage, highlighting the growing challenges faced by residents and visitors alike.
