Mass layoffs are taking place in Romania. During the first half of 2025, over seven thousand people lost their jobs, which amounts to about a thousand people per month. Most of the layoffs affect the automotive industry, where more than 200 factory workers in the city of Dej will be left without jobs.

Laid-off employees may receive professional support and training for further employment. The reasons for the mass layoffs vary – from financial problems to relocating production to other countries with lower taxes. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in the country has increased to 3.2%, leading to a rise in the number of people receiving unemployment assistance.

In Cluj County, over three hundred people were laid off. Employment agencies offer them professional support and retraining.

At the same time, the President of Romania has abandoned the idea of establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Nicușor Dan believes that this issue needs to be reconsidered now, but currently does not support the introduction of such a zone.

Romania is witnessing extensive layoffs, primarily affecting the automotive sector. This could lead to an increase in unemployment and a large number of people needing assistance. The country's president does not support the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine, considering it impractical at this time.
